We are thrilled to be co-hosting some of Ithaca Festival with GIAC again this year! The Greater Ithaca Activities Center (GIAC) is a center for all ages, particularly youth and teens. It serves the immediate neighborhood and the greater Ithaca area by providing multicultural, educational, and recreational programs focused on social and individual development.
On Saturday, June 3 you can find all kinds of great events happening, including a charity basketball game at 4:00, a stage in the park featuring great acts like The Empire Kings and Wassa Pan Afrika Dance Ensemble, and several local food and craft vendors.
We'll also be holding a writing workshop in the gymnasium from 11:00-12:00. 2017 Tompkins County Poet Laureate Zee Zahava will lead an inter-generational workshop for writing and sharing happy memories. Come and share memories about the many things you've experienced that made you happy! This might include the first time you did something, the way you have celebrated joyous occasions, birthday memories, making new friends, moving into a new home, the birth of a child, getting a pet, and more more more more more!
Worried about getting from downtown to GIAC? Then hop on a horse drawn wagon that will carry festival attendees along Court Street between Cayuga Street and GIAC provided by Custom Carriage and Trail Rides of the Finger Lakes. If wagons aren't your thing, then go for a pony ride on Cayuga Street provided by Painted Bar Stables. We'll all be riding in style this year!
